Farewell Concert!

Last night was Hailey final choir concert at Santa Rosa High. It is not great quality, but here is a video clip from the concert. It is all the Seniors singing "For Good" (one of my all time favorite songs) from the musical Wicked. Hailey has a small solo near the end....look for her on the right side of the screen. Thanks to Aden for the video taping...he did great considering that people sitting in front of him were moving. ENJOY!

My Last Hurrah!

Four years ago, I was asked to be the one of the 4's leaders for our Stake Girls Camp. One of the requirements to certify as a Level 4 is a hike. The last 2 years we started having our hike before camp.Last Friday night was our overnight hike!

Some friends, the Houghtons, offered their property and as you can see by the photos....It was AMAZING. We met at the Stake Center and carpooled up to parking lot of the property and then backpacked one mile up to the camping area!

We set up our tents, put our tin foil dinners on the fire and then began our service projects. One of the projects was to set fire to the reeds around the bank of the pond. As you can tell it was the perfect service project for 14 and 15 year old girls!

We also cleared a bunch of old wood that we used for a bon-fire. It also kept us warm. The evening was followed with yummy dinners and of course S'mores. We talked about this years camp theme which is 'Take my hand and TOGETHER we'll climb!" and then one our the fathers gave a devotional. The leaders then tried to sleep....it was easier for some. I'm not sure what time the girls finally went to sleep! I'm sure it was sometime Saturday morning!

Saturday morning the girls woke up and went fishing. There are 4 huge catfish that live in the pond. Zoramus is the largest and "king" of the pond. Kelsea was the Queen Fisher woman. She caught and released Zoramus (after a few photos)!

Kelsea and Zoramus!

Autumn and 'the fish'!

The girls enjoyed a quick ride on the raft!

After all the water fun! We packed up and headed back to the cars! Despite it being a little cold at night, we had perfect weather.

The trail home.....

What's a good camping trip with out a snake sighting!

I survived my fifth and final 4's hike....snakes and all. I am retiring after this year. I really love Girl's Camp and the wonderful spirit that comes with it but as Aden is practically an only child now, I will be focusing my time and talents on boy things.
Thanks to all the adults who were brave enough to join us on our hike and to the Houghton Family for letting invade their property!
(and Kraig for the photos!)
