Going Green!

In California, recycling is easy. We have a big blue trash can to put the recycling in, and the garbage company takes it away every Wednesday. We do not have to separate it or anything!

This is nothing new for California. A recycling program was already in place when we moved here 13 years ago, when Miss Hailey Pierce was only 5! Well you can imagine her shock when she moved to Rexburg, Idaho and found no recycling anywhere on campus! Her and her roommate Alexa, also from Santa Rosa, found that they couldn't throw recyclable items in the trash. For them recycling is a way of life!!!! They decided to start their own recycling program!

They are collecting from anyone that brings them their stuff and will bring all they collect to the recycling bins in front of the local Walmart. They have plans to meet with the ABS President at BYU I to see if they can get on-campus recycling bins and there was even talk about a chat with the Mayor of Rexburg! You go girls!!!!! Beautifying Idaho one can at a time!!!!

Farewell Concert!

Last night was Hailey final choir concert at Santa Rosa High. It is not great quality, but here is a video clip from the concert. It is all the Seniors singing "For Good" (one of my all time favorite songs) from the musical Wicked. Hailey has a small solo near the end....look for her on the right side of the screen. Thanks to Aden for the video taping...he did great considering that people sitting in front of him were moving. ENJOY!

This year's Turn-About Dance theme was

'Take me to Tokyo'

Hailey and her friends decided to dress according to the theme.

Harajuku style originated among teens on the streets of the Harajuku Shopping District in Tokyo. It may have been brought to many people's attention by American singer Gwen Stefani, but the evolution of the style certainly didn't begin with her and it certainly won't end with her. Like many "street fashions" it is difficult to characterize, both because it is constantly changing and because it has many manifestations. There is no cookie-cutter approach to this style

I think it is fun that they dress to match the theme! In the olden days when I was in High School we always dressed formal. I sure enjoyed paying $4 for a Pokemon t-shirt from Ross versus $80 plus for a dress. A good time was had by all!

Debut Concert!

Last night was the Debut Concert at Santa Rosa High School.
